Cats

Cats are the second most common and loved pet in the world. 42.2 million people own cats in the US, and every year 2.1 - 2.2 million cats are adopted from shelters across the US.  The state of Pennsylvania has the most cats adopted each year out of all the other states in the U.S. About 20,000 - 40,000 cats are adopted each year there, but other states like Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, and Wyoming have less than 15,000 adoptions per year. A motivation to ADOPT a cat is: Cats may seem like more independent creatures, but really, they do adore having a loving person to take care of them. Cats truly have a unique charm that makes them beloved companions for many. Their soft fur and gentle purring offer a soothing presence that can be incredibly comforting. Beyond their cuddly nature, cats possess an innate curiosity and playful spirit that can bring joy and amusement to their owners. Their independent yet affectionate demeanor often creates a perfect balance for those who appreciate both companionship and personal space. Furthermore, cats are known for their agility and intelligence, often surprising their humans with clever antics and problem-solving skills. Whether they’re quietly lounging in a sunbeam or energetically chasing a toy, cats have a way of making each moment with them special.
