Cats

Cats are the second most common and loved pet in the world. 42.2 million people own cats in the US, and every year 2.1 - 2.2 million cats are adopted from shelters across the US.  The state of Pennsylvania has the most cats adopted each year (about 20,000 - 40,000), other states like Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, and Wyoming have less than 15,000 adoptions per year. Cats may seem like more independent creatures, but really, they do adore having a loving person to take care of them. Many people appreciate cats as pets because of their distinct charm. Their steady purring and velvety fur provide a calming presence that can be immensely reassuring. In addition to being adorable, cats have a natural curiosity and lively attitude that can make their owners happy. For people who value both company and privacy, their independent yet loving personality frequently strikes the ideal balance. Cats are also renowned for their cleverness and agility; they frequently surprise people with their cunning antics and problem-solving abilities.
